Default Info on the S4 ...

Hey guys, Hope everyones Thanksgiving was good ... anyway, Im new to the forums, and I was wondering if anyone could give me some basic info to get me started. Im looking into buying an S4 within the next couple months, I have apx 19 - 23k to spend. I have seen several that are going for apx $19,000 - $22,500 with mileage ranging from 40 - 60k (give or take), however in everyone else's opinion what do you guys think would be a good deal, and since I live in New Jersey if anyone knows of a place that theyd reccomend to buy from? That'd be really helpful. I have a basic idea of pricing that'd be too high or too low, but you guys are the experts . Also, what mods are the first to usually be done? ( any good websites on stuff like that would be really helpful also). Ive seen topics for some of this stuff already posted, but my computer won't let me get into all of them for some reason so I apologize in advance if this info was already posted somewhere else and yall have to repeat it. Thanks so much everyone hope to hear some responses!

Good luck with the new purchase

Honestly if you can find an S4 with 40k for only $20,000ish. Go for it!. That in my opinion is an awesome deal.

As for first modifications that is going to be a personal preference. You could do suspension, that will imporve the handling (as if it needs it). If you were looking for performance, then you are going to want to let the car breath first. Do not do a chip before you allow the vehicle to breath more effieciently. Meaning, do and intake, downpipes and exhaust first, then you can think about doing an aftermarket chip.

Hope this helps

Yea, I think you can find a good s4 for that price. Yesterday I just bought a 2001 s4 with alcantara, HID's, brand new tires, sport mirrors, pristine inside and out, with 51,000 miles and certified preowned til July 2007 for $22,888. It should be a good car I hope, 1 owner lease return, perfect service record.

As Bagged said, with ANY car, performance wise you let the car breath. Stock intake systems are a joke, designed primarily to be silent, not performance oriented at all. Also, yes, a 20k for a S4 with 40,000 is a steal. I'd be very suspicious of it. I have a friend that has a dealers license, so I'd get mine at a dealers auction, maybe you could look into that. I also haven't found very many tech articles yet. Possibly because these are still new cars, and people who are into them for performance, are small in numbers.

Anyway, I just started looking into these as well. But the sites I have found for performance are...
http://www.goapr.com/Audi/index.html
http://www.avalonmotorsports.com/ These guys are local for me, and have a S4 that runs 11's... but I don't know it they'll help you.
http://www.hopupracing.com/audis4.html
http://www.lltek.com/s4.htm

Also does anyone know what CC injectors S4's have from the factory? I have seen any upgraded ones, so I'd think they'd be good. But I never risk things when it comes to my fuel air ratio...

Thanks so much everyone, everything's helping me a lot ...Haha "the car to steal," luckily I live in a very good neighboor hood so hopefully that wont happen, I've been looking around for months and have seen very good deals every now and then, also my boyfriend actually had an S4 a couple of years ago and purchashed it at an auction, and the car ran just fine. I may look into buying one through that. As for first mod's, intake and exhaust is what I figured should be done first, I guess when I actually get the car I'll look into what company to buy from and what not. Anyway, thanks very much boys

Actually Audi stock airboxes are very good compared to most others.

Yeah, I've been noticing that, on account of not many air intake systems available. All other cars I have experience with, they are God awful though.

Anyway.... know the stock injector size?
