Hey everyone,

Just got a 2002 silver S4 and I LOVE it. Anyways, my whole life I've had nothing but pickup trucks and SUV's, so when I was in the market for a sedan I didn't want some lame *** ford or civic or something along those lines, so I went with an S4. Anyways I'm 20 and in school (so not TOO much cash), and wondering what to do to increase the performance of my car. I'm not looking to go to the track necessairly, I just want to get the most out of my S4 and wondering what I should do to achieve that goal.

One of the main projects that I'm already underway in is building a custom box for my JL W7 12" sub for my s4, it was in my 4runner but I want it in my new baby so I'll see how that works out, and the install. But with the stock bose speakers I don't think I'll need to replace those, so I'm looking at what I can do performance wise.

EDIT: It's an automatic, since it was 4 grand cheaper than a 6 speed

good mods to start with would be :

exhaust -----ASP exhaust
intake ------> X1 CF intake kit
downpipe or "piggie" pipes ----- ASP or "piggie"pipes
software -----> GIAC X-Chip
APR Bipipe with forge 007 diverter valves

 

^^ what he said... but you dont need to do the intake..no real proven gains.

chip first..then exhaust....

 

So what immediate gains will I see from a GIAC X-Chip -- and how much will i be looking at to get one and have a shop install it?

 

roughly about a 60hp gain.... im not sure how much theyre running right now... somewhere between 500-1000 bucks.

also - a good alternative to the 007's would be the bosch 710N's

 

8 mm wrench and less than thirty minutes totake it out... look on all the GIAC/AWE sites they all have instructions if you need them. otherwise take it somewhere.

 

Go through the FAQ, your questions will be answered.

But before you start to make it faster, make sure it's all working properly.

 

If you love your car, invest in adecentalarm system with a well hidden fuel cut-KILL SWITCH firstIMHO. Factory alarms are a joke. This has saved my car from running away too far from where it was parked once already.
