Just wasted $130......
Hey all,
Just thought I'd share my experience from last night.
I recently purchased a second hand AMS-tuned ECU for my 00 S4 (car purchased about a month ago and the seller said it was not modified). So, in preparation of this upgrade, I ordered a couple Bosch 710N valves ($65) and found someone selling an AMS kevlar reinforced TBB ($65) as any responsible S4 owner would.
I received the TBB and it looked great. I popped the hood and began removing the original TBB. Once I've got it out, I inspect it to see if there are any tears present and when I flip it over, it says "SAMCO SPORT". SOB! Guess I'll keep the AMS boot for a spare.
While I'm in there, I figure I'll have a look at the diverter valves to see if I might need some hoses or clamps for the upcoming replacement. What do I find? The valves look standard but the last four digits of the part number on them are "710N" SOB AGAIN!. Well, I think I'm going to go ahead and throw the new ones in since I have no idea how old these are. I'll just have a couple spares.
I took the seller's word for it that the car had not been messed with. He was the second owner so I guess these could have been done and he would have never known. I suppose it's a good thing that I found these and now have two parts for each of the "problem areas" However, the $130 could have been used elsewhere.

yeah it is a little comforting but the car's boost is not smooth under full throttle (surges of power). This made me have another look at the stack of receipts the last owner gave me. I found the receipt for the 710N valves and they were installed approximately 60k miles ago! Hopefully the new valves will fix it.
