i was just wondering if you guys would trade in a 2004 M3 for a 2001 S4wagon?? i want nothing more the to keep the M, but did you ever see how $$$ is to mod that car,is the S4 like that too?this is my first post so be cool

 

I'd tell you to go with S4..but you're gonna hear that a lot here! It's less common then the M3..and can potentially produce way more power! And it's got AWD!

 

ahh...well....I think the e46 m3 is a hot car....Personally, I wouldn't switch to the s4 avant....unless you really wanted or needed awd.
You may be able to get more hp out of the s4....but I think you will miss the handling of the m3.

Huh? 2004 M3 for 2001 S4? You could get two '01 S4s for the value of the Bimmer.

'01 S4s only had the 2.7T engine. An '04 S4 would be less money than the '04 M3 and the '04 S4 has the 340 hp V8 4.2 engine.

If you need the wagon and/or AWD, you could get an '02-03 S6 with low miles for even money with the M3. Biggest difference between S4 and S6 is back seat room and cargo space. The S4 would be a little quicker and handle a little better than the S6, but not a whole lot. If you really wanted to go crazy, you could put a pair of K04 turbos on the S4 or S6 and bump it up to 420+ hp.

We have a '02 S6, awesome car, the ultimate bad-*** station wagon, gobs of power and great handling. I also have a '01 330Ci convertible. In the fun to drive category the BMW wins.

i'd rather have the 2004 m3. i mean, its 2004. if it were 2001 vs. 2001 i'd take the s4

Its not really that fare since its a 2004 vx a 2001... Its a tough decision, and without driving the m3 i would say s4 since ive only driven that and absolutely love it.

 

Keep the M3. If you want an s4 dont get wagon unless need it for kids or something.

 

never seen an s4 that makes power like some of the m3s ive seen. into the 1200 hp range on some m3's ive seen at the track. never seen s4 like that. so more power potential in the s4, maybe, but then again probably not. as for an 04 s4, itll be more expensive and harder to mod cuz of the n/a factor than the biturbo. the b5 s4 can be tons of fun, i want one bad, but dont think id give up an 04 M3 for it. i know what you mean about mod cost tho. insane. choice is yours...raw power ultimate driving machine or ***** to the wall with like 40 pounds of boost collectively.
