I have a 2000 S4 've heard the stock Bosch MAF of that year is pretty unreliable once you start to mod your car, and that the later year cars have Hitachi. Correct me if I'm wrong on any of this. My question is can I just swap out the Bosch for the Hitachi or is there other things you have to do also?

modding means things get changed so forget the standard things ( BOSH is the basic but a very good brand and adaptable to most MODS ) so depends on how far your going or gone

Yup, you need the program to run it. The Bosh is NOT nearly as bad as everyone makes it out to be.

 

well alot of turbo upgrades i heard require a MAF upgrade to match the fueling system, so if that was the case I might as well get it out of the way.

 

most stage 3 fuel kits include a MAF, along with practically everything else...
