Mod help
Hey guys, I have been a member for almost a year now but have recently come back because of issues from my car problems last year. But I am back still looking for the amazing S4. After reading some of my old posts I realized how much of a noob I was and how inconsistent my thoughts were so I apologize to those who helped me previously. Now that I have more knowledge of these amazing machines, I have some final questions before I buy my first S4.
So right now I am looking at a 2001 White 89K mile S4 for 12,500 (the price was lowered for a timing belt fix) To me that seems like a pretty decent deal, what do you guys think? So I know which mods I am getting but the only thing that worries me is the brand I pick for each mod. I have read post after post after post of people saying one DV is better than the other and others saying its no big deal. Same goes for shortshifters and Chips. Other than that here is what I plan on buying as soon as I purchase the car:
1) DV's (most likely Forge cause thats the most I see)
2)probably APR bi-pipe (just so I dont have to worry about buying another TBB)
3)darintake
4) some CHIP (most likely GIAC because APR seems to be a little more expensive
5) exhaust (I have no idea which one, I want one that is very aggressive not obnoxiously loud like the Twin 1)
6) short shifter (I like B&M's 3 adjustable settings, but also unsure)
7)and possibly Vag-com (how much do these run? cause more than likely I will just drive to a store and have them check for me if something goes wrong)
I am glad to be back in the realm of audi owners and I hope these questions arent to nooby for you guys. I am constantly wanting to learn more about this car so if any of you have any info or websiteson what parts do what i.e the mechanical aspect of everything, I would enjoy reading it. I hope I can be of help to you guys some day. Thanks

1) Forge is an excellent brand to go with here (PM for pricing). If you're just going to chip though you could probably suffice to go with the 710N valve from the TT225 at your local dealer or shop.achtuning.com
2) APR bi-pipe. This is an excellent idea!
3) darintake: Another good idea. cheap and effective
4) GIAC is the way to go here. Great upgrades for the S4 when you're ready!!
5) For exhaust I will forever recomment the ASP TRU-DUAL system with the 89mm tips, excellent sound, no drone, and great look (find this at www.autospeedperformance.com along with sound clips and pictures)
6) For short shifter I would recommend the JHM solid short throw shifter best shifter for the Audi's out there. (PM me for pics, vids, and pricing on this)
7) VAG-COM is your friend when paired with a Bently CD-ROM. You can find these at www.ross-tech.com and will run you around $400 for the pair

thanks badassb5 for the help. I was originally looking at the tru-duel but couldnt find any sound clips. I have to ask why get the TT's DV's? arnt the other aftermaket DV better for somewhat heavy upgraded s4's?
So I just called the audi dealer to check what repairs has been down and everything seems to be in order. Auxillary coolant pump, turbocharger, MAF, CV boot (not sure which one) were all changed before the guy extended his warranty. Its rediculous what audi chargers for the 80,000mile tune-up-$800.
Also do any of you guys know anything about audi not letting people transfer there warrenty over. The guy who owns the car now said he could, but the woman from audi said that I would have to call audi because they had stopped allowing that to happen a couple years ago.

if you are refering to the "S4 FAQ" i have read that many times but they do not answer all of my questions. i know all about reading before writing posts. if you think you guys are bad, hop over to the rx-7 forum, they have been around for a lot longer time and they dont take any of that. But i do apologize that my questions seem repetative.
The TT DV is a upgrade from the stock S4 DV, they hold up much better. The reason they are a good choice is they are $30 a piece! Really they are just as good as the $150 ones. You just can't rebuild them.
If you search under my UN, there is a video clip of my ASP exhaust. It's a good balance between the Twin 1 & others. Not to loud & not to quiet.
Most of us haven't had a warranty for some time, so that's a Audi USA question, don't take the Dealers word for it.
If you think the 80k service is to much, watch out for all the other stupid prices for parts! Keep $1000 aside for random things that will break.

the 80K mile service is a simple tune up which I will do on my own- it consists of oil change, oil filter, air filter, coolant flush, and spark plugs (there is also some other filter she said but i couldnt hear her, anyone else know what filter she is talking about? i dont think its the fuel filter, but i could be wrong)
I really like your ASP exhaust, it sounds just like my old exhaust
So can the TT DV withstand the heavier upgraded S4's?

Another question....how well do audi ecu's adapt to the addition to performance parts? I ask because my ecu on my rx7 always had to be tuned again because it wouldnt make the adjustments on its own. This might be a noob question, but just curious.
Also, does anyone have any thoughts on the JHM short shifter?
