mods
helps to know what engine we are talking about and if you have any other mods....
in basic terms the chip will give you the best "bang for your buck" and the file should be optimized for what, if any, mods you have. upgrading the exhaust, either before or after, may net you some small gains but probably not enough that you would notice. you wouldn't really need to upgrade the dp's and exhaust unless you go with a good deal of additional modding.

Thanks. I have a 2010 stock s4. I was looking at the apr pulley and ecu chip. This seems to give best bang for the buck. It just seems that every other mod I see on the forums people have also added a new exhaust. Wondering why?
As far as changing the exhaust it is a matter of airflow. More air in (your upgraded tune and pulley in this case), you need room for more air out (exhaust). By upgrading the exhaust to a larger diameter you get less back pressure through the exhaust manifold and your engine doesn't have to work as "hard" to develop power (that is the theory anyway). In my opinion, your stock exhaust probably has enough volume to deal with the extra air you will be forcing into the engine (more air+more fuel=more exhaust).
I am by no means an expert, I would ask whoever is doing your chip what their opinion is.

02A6BEAU is right, your engine is just a big ole air pump. the easier for air to get in and out, the easier it is for your car to make power. this is a lil different than the turbo setups, though, im not sure of freer flowing exhaust on a sc car. i know with a turbo'ed car, the less restriction in the exhaust, the faster the turbos can spool. again, not sure what effect this will have on a supercharged car.
congrats on your purchase, im extremely jealous...
