I use Mobil 1 Syntehtic, 030.

When the dealer did my 5K mile oil change, they used 040 Synthetic, dunno what brand it was.

I am now at 10k miles and was down a quart so I added a quart of Mobil 1 030, am I right that it's ok to mix them?

I have always heard that you should never mix different weight oils but it is ok to mix regular and synthetic of the same weight.

don't mix full synthetic with regular oil its like putting oil in water they don't mix, semi synthetic on the other hand you can top up with regular or as I call it none synthetic

Are you shitting me? Damn, where did you hear this? I never get straight answers on this type of thing.

This is the 2nd time I've done this. I have not noticed any problems since doing it.

On the other hand it seems obvious to me that you'd never mix Synth with regular, so maybe you are 100% wrong today

Crap, what about Mobil, Mobil 1 0W-30? That is what I have a whole case of and have put 1 quart into my engine on two seperate occassions when it was low on oil.

I know when I last went the dealer filled it with 0W-40. So mixing in 0W-30 Mobile 1 is a no-no?
