do you have any estimates on what youd run on like regular gas...92/93 oct?

Easily a high 11. My car hooks better with pump gas. It doesn't just blow off the tires like it does with race gas, it spins them just right. You generally only need to trap 114 to 118mph to get a high 11 with a stick car. Plus I have gonedoor to door with many street bikeson the highwaywith 91 octane here in CA. They can't shake me, many I actually pull on. My traps are good enough for 10s, but first gear is a disaster in this car, since it is really hard to keep it from bogging and still keep some traction if I don't throttle it enough. You need a perfect spin on these cars. Plus I need to start shifting faster like I have in the past, I had the file for 2 days and was busy watching my wideband and boost gage and setting up my logs as I drove up to the line. HAHA

yeah..that all makes sense..heck, even i had a hard time with my day at the strip in getting traction...

what kind of boost do you pull then with the 110oct (well and normal gas as well)

20 to 21 p.s.i on a daily basis with 91 octane. When I run 110 I usually start at 23. I didn't push it any further that day cuz when I tried I started to get missfires up top. I need to regap my plugs tighter for more boost and double check my ignition system. Just got my motor back in 5 days prior, so hadn't had time to get any bugs out with all the small details. My old plugs could handle 27 p.s.i spike with 25 p.s.i to redline with the gap at .022. Never ran at the track with more than 23 to 24 p.s.i.though. So it will be fun to see what I can do if I push the boost harder, especially with it finally getting below 70f out here in cali, late in the day. I was being a little conservative that day like I said since I only had RS4 injectors and just got the tune 2 days prior and had the car back together only 5 days prior. HAHA

thanks for the info jayb and keep on pushing, youre doing really good stuff...

More im thinking on it though, you really think youd break into the 11's without the race gas? I really dont know, just thinking out loud, but dont they normally say about 50hp gain to go to 100 oct..then running 110+ i think would be even higher is pretty considerable.... Just curious on the numbers how theyd translate..although you make an excellent point that youd get better hole shots...

Jayb... I want to hear more about this GT28 powered car... what kind of HP/gas/boost is this person looking to have... etcetc. Also, how come you don't run slicks? tooo hard on the drivetrain?

I ran an 11.9 @ 116mph at the German Invasion drag racing eventin LA in 85 degree heat and 2700 feet above sea level with race gas and crappy RS4 ICs. I even left my stereo in. 100 plus pounds. I know I can trap that on pump here at sea level, especially with my new file. It was real easy to hook with that level of power. I might have to do it for you and some other people though. But I am having more fun going after my goal of a 130 mph trap with straigh K04s and full interior. Ultimately it all depends on the file. However with crapy CA 91 octane, maybe I will be limited. I ran an 11.92 @ 115.3mph at sac in my 91 Mustang GT (all motor). So I know I can get a high 11 with pump if I can trap 116mph. Very doable IMO. But who knows until I try.

The other one in existance puts down 510 whp on pump gas with a stock motor in 85 degree heat earlier this year. Only 26 p.s.i. It is a completely reengineered long tube header setup originally developed by VAST 2 years ago. Unlike any other. Actual engineering put into the exhaust, not just some manifolds made to keep the turbo in the stock location They just kept waiting for GIAC to help them finish their tuning, it never happened so now they are just doing it themselves. So we will be building the final prototype to help finalize the tune especially since California has crappy 91 octane. We can help them dial the CA file in for the street. The race gas tune will be a different story. We need to keep it conservative to see what we ca do without blowing a stock motor. Then down the road we will do it with a built 3.0l and up the boost. It is wicked if you saw it. In time. Hopefully get started around the first of the year.

Honestly, I don't run slicks since I want to share what a true street car can do with race gas. I have broken a couple front axles in the past, mainly due to wheelhop. Our cars have no torque so slicks would be overkill. We need some spin. I think a set of drag radials will be just right. So someday I will get a second set of wheels and some drag radials, just waiting for the right deal to come around. Kind of tight with money on the mods for my car, since I am constantly tying up money into R&D.
