my 2000 s4 has had problems with first and second being rough to engage. i've heard of these things happening often and just thought it was a faulty tranny with some s4's. but as of today, i can't even engage into first at all, and second and reverse are sometimes unable to engage as well. if someone can please help, i would greatly appreciate it!!! ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thanks....

P.S. are porsche parts transferable to audi transmissions, if not, what are some good brands for beefier gears.

 

generally when that happens it is the synchros.... Its a relatively cheap part..but you have to rip apart the tranny to get to it..so its never cheap. I had teh same thing happen in 3rd gear in my old ford probe

 

HAHA good luck with that!! I just got mine out of the shop today for that! I had to get a whole new tranny! but my extended warrant covered barely, they almost didnt cover it bc i had a short throw shifter on it, at first they said it was gonna b 7 grand!! but then they said it would have been 3 grand bc it was only my 1st and 2nd gear, but it only cost me $50 for the deductable . I took them 3 weeks, im just glad to have my baby back!
