NEED HELP!! something wrong with chip
Hey i just had an APR chip installed today, i also upgraded the tbb and dv's. At first everything thing was great and the power was amazing. Something went wrong though. At first it seemed like a possible boost leak, the car wasnt acclerating smooth and would lurch forward almost, didnt feel like all the power was there. But it got worse, now its like back to stock. My boost gauge is only going up to around 10ish and im thinking thats the problem. I dunno what to do or how to fix.
Thanks

This is very similar to my ultimate experience with my APR chip - after 3+ years in the car - and something I am experiencing now with the GIAC chip.. My problem started when the engine warmed up - always drove great cold - then it would just top out at 7 psi - less then stock performance really. When a GIAC chip was put it it was pretty much back to boost city. However not too too long after (6-9 months perhaps) I started getting this stuttering and jerking - that had occured a bit before as well with the APR chip) - and not too long after that high pitched turbo whistling sound...thus I'm getting K04s...anyway I've actually gone nearly 8 months with that whistling turbo sound which has gradually gotten worse - but performance has actually gotten better (less jerky on average but boost still not sustaining as it used to - though seems to peak pretty close to what it was before - 16-19 psi).
I also have a simmilar problem.......I drove my friends car w/ a chip and it is alot smoother then mine. I don't feel like I'm getting the same about of boost. I bought the car w the chip. So I don't know if it need the upgrade done to it. It could be running orginal program too.
It would seem as well that my APR chip may be doing the same thing now. The car does lurch a bit and is not as strong, though it is currently chipped to the stock setting with APR and the issues continue. Does anyone know if the stock APR setting is truly stock??
Flatlandfool - don't know for sure but i imagine that the APR "stock" mode should be equivilant to Audi stock values. BTW - my problems with the APR chip were the same in both stock and boosted modes. I felt the problem was with an O2 sensor or some other sensor that was retarding boost because it felt the engine was overheating. Initially my problems seemed to occur only after the engine had warmed up - but eventually it was nearly always - though occasionally it would work as if nothing was wrong and give me full boost. It was very maddening and after trying all sorts of fixes I eventually - very reluctantly - agreed to swap out the chip - problem solved. If your car is just lurching I would check your engine mounts. At one point when only this was at issue we found that both engine mounts were horribly deteriorated and that was causing the engine to lurch when I shifted under power.
hey just to let u no what was wrong with mine. the MAF had to be replaced. i thought that was it at frist but i was wrong. i started to drive home from the shop and something went wrong again. Had to tow the car back to the shop. what ended up being the problem was the hose from the intercooler blew up so i was only using 3 cylinders.
I'm having this sam prob. I"m gonna pressure test the system today and see if theres a leak. I sure hope its that simple. I'll try to remember and post what I find out either way.

I just started having the same exact problem. Has anyone fixed this problem yet or have a solution for it? I'm guessing either MAF or boost leaking somewhere when boosting more than the stock PSI.
Anyone??
Anyone??
