actually. i would like to hear about the new s4's (2005-2007), i want to hear the good and the bad if there is any. i personally dont really care about moding it, and i do like the interior of the 2006 that i test drove. i love the fact they have paddles, and the carbon fiber inlaid. any response to this or any owner that would like to tell me there experiance?

Well I think it would all depend on your budget and personal taste. I would recommend trying to drive both. See which one you like more and buy it. Every car can be modded and has its own drawbacks, but if you dont get the one which suites your taste then you will never be happy with it...

It's more or less personal opinion if modding isn't a main goal. If you want more power upfront without having to mod anything, get a B6. But if you want more power in the end through modding, nothing better than a B5. But keep in mind to fully mod the B5 to its maximum potential will be an additional 15k or more, but you could think of this as the difference in sticker prices as the B5 will be cheaper off the lot of from the seller than the B6.

There both great cars. Th B6 is nicer out of the box. the suspension is nicer, the engine have much more power, & the interior is better. But they cost more.

Really, it's a toss up. Do you want a new car, or a older car? How important is a warranty? Drive both & decide.

To me, the B6 is a great car out of the box, but falls flat as you modify it, return per $$ is very low, & there isn't a lot out there.
The B5 is less to start with, but with only a few $$, it will handle better & be much faster. It has a much better aftermarket.

if you like the feel of the newer car, and like the paddle shifting, and aren't worried aboutmods, and like 2 doors, and have the money, wait a year. the s5 will be out with dsg sometime between late fall and early spring. dsg is real clutches, not an automatic so the paddles really operate like f1. expect the price to be 5k+ higher than a new s4, especially with the "bells and whistles" it's offering (esp. the bang &olufsen sound sys.)

FYI - the 2004/2005 S4 has basically the same interior and is the 90% the same car as the 2005.5-2007 model, just body styling changes and a few more options on the new ones.
