New B8 S4 rumors: Supercharger
Fortitude keeps saying they think its gonna be supercharged. They published an article the first week of november saying that.
http://www.fourtitude.com/news/publi...cle_3563.shtml
Audiworld however CONFIRMED that it will be a turbo not supercharged less than 2 weeks later.
"We have confirmed with inside sources that the B8 S4 will debut with a brand new 3.0-liter TFSI bi-turbo producing 330-hp. With this powerplant Audi can nearly match the B7's 340-hp output while providing even better performance figures."

So either audiworld is misinformed and is publishing that misinformation, claiming it to be valid. Or fortitude has some bad sources inside audi.
The new Eaton 4 lobe supercharger is in the new corvette zr1, but i highly doubt it will make an appearence in the s4. More often than not history repeats itself. Audi has had a love affair with turbos for a very long time. 1.8t, 2.0t, 2.2t, 2.7TT, 4.2TT, and now the v10 twin turbo in the new rs6. Id put money on turbos, and if anyone wants to take me up on that thats cool.
Twincharging is the only place i could imagine seeing a blower on a factory audi right now. VW has been experimenting with supercharging and turbocharging smaller displacement engines for more power.

Okay, I've worked together a little more info in the form of some rumors on the S4. First, we'd heard from an unconfirmed source that Eaton was the OE involved.
From another unrelated friend of the site, we've had further corroboration telling us "The new S4 will most likely use a twin screw four-lobe (twin Vortices Series) TVS Eaton Kompressor." That's two votes for Eaton.
That same FO4 (Friend of Fourtitude) said he's heard the term 333 hp. We checked all information with a source at Audi and the reply was "the power figure is close to what I've heard."
We'll post more as we hear it, but we figure that was worth a mention on these pages.
..............
Thanks for the tip Hans!
Before this goes too speculative, I want to clarify that I've heard just a supercharger. Of course, I could have heard something incomplete, but FYI.
The VW Group has not done a TSI in a displacement larger than 1.4 liters from what I understand. Further, knowing about this project, I was chatting with Audi's head of petrol engine development at the event where I drove the Ethanol-run next-gen 2.0T (which won't use Ethanol when it comes to market).
Anyway, not saying anything about the S4, I asked about TSI as a German engineer from VW had told our VWvortex Managing Editor Jamie Vondruska that TSI should be applicable to larger engines with similar performance and fuel savings results. I shared that with him and he looked skeptical. He said they weren't experimenting with anything bigger at this time... and I doubt he'd be skirting the S4 thing since I didn't bring that up. Normally, if they were, I'd expect him to say they were at least considering it. He was certainly conversational about the 2.0T I was driving, so it's not like it was a stone wall conversation.

^^ talk much to yourself?? LOL
right.. i was just getting some talk first. i commented on audiworld ( they have this post up too) how they would sell so much faster if it is biturbo, rather than S/Ced. Audi should stick with what they're best at. Just think 330hp..and just after a chip!.. woooow mama!!

btw your car looks sick lowered like that. i need to get mine lowered! but being in Mass, my bumper would get ripped off from all the stupid roads.. your in NH right? how do u do it!?
btw car in my sig is not my car, lol... audijp98 made it and im too lazy to get my pics off my phone etc etc

Yeah im in NH, it helps that i dont drive the car all the time. When im around during the winter i drive a chevy 1500, and i often drive my dads saab 95. The key is allways playing it safe though haha. I cant get my car on tow trucks and i couldnt get into the gas station in town untill they repaved the entrance this fall. Those are really the 2 biggest issues iv had in the past, but ever since i got my clutch and fw put in my exhaust is hanging way too low. Thats priority #1 when i get home form college in may.

i'm in NH myself and plan on lowering, but not by allot. Most of the roads around here aren't bad in the summer once the frost heaves have settled and i have my VW for the winter so i'm not too concerned. the streets in manhatten 10x are worse then up here i think.
Yeah, thats right, i got an A4 and i'm in the S forum! i sneak over here once and awhile because i will be getting an S4 next..... maybe a ways down the road, but someday i'll have a B6 or B7 S4, so don't go bashing my noob car.
