Default New(er) or Old S4

Its about 8 months out but I'm already looking for a new car. My A4 B5 is about to be paid off and I'm already looking at S4's. Im pretty knowledgeable about the A4's but dont know much about the tendencies of S4's. My question to you (the S4 community) is should I look at a higher mileage early 2000's twin turbo S4 (I like those because they are very similar to my car right now) or a more expensive 2004 4.2 V8 S4? The only problems with the earlier s4's is the mileage and actually finding them. The closest one to me in Indiana (that is in decent shape) is in Milwaukee. Thanks for your comments

depends what you want it for. I would go with the V8. Its enough power, and its a more refined car. The 2.7 is a turbo, and can be more of a pain in the ***. But of course the turbo is better to tune power wise. I like the reliability of an NA car. even tho my car is a turbo..

Im partial to the B5 (2.7) -- but then again, I want more modability and power. I agree, the turbos add some complexity and are a known to fail on quite a few B5s. But they sure are fun to drive.

My advice -- don't limit yourself to cars that are close to you. Search across the country, buy a 1 way ticket and drive it back home. I have done this twice now -- it makes it a lot easier to find what you want and you can save some good $$ too. Just my $.02

thats the biggest question, what do you want to do with the car? do you just want to have a car, drive it as it is, no modding or only light to moderate mods??(ie; chip, catback, intake) or do you want to have a car that can be a complete beast if you mod it well, that can outrun almost anything on the streets??

if you just want a car and leave it as is, go for the newer, more refined B6 with the v8. if you want to mod the crap out of it, and have a blast and blow a lot, and i mean a ton, of money, go for the B5...

Thanks for your comments guys. Bigern45- You have a good point after reading your post I am thinking more and more about a b6. Ive spent a lot of money on my b5 (doing maintenance on the engine) and Id rather not go through it again. Id really only want to do light modding on a b6 and really nothing aesthetic.
