Default new here, having some S4 issues, please help!

hey everyone, im having some issues with my car, i was hoping someone had some advice for me.

2000 S4 80k miles, auto/tip.

1st issue, EPC light coming on randomly. when i start the car, it isnt on, it just comes on while driving.
when the light comes on the engine power decreases dramatically. i understand this is a safty feature, for not hurting the engine?

2nd issue, check engine light. comes and goes randomly as well.

3rd issue, ABS and brake light. random as well, sometimes they come on as soon as i start the car, sometimes while driving. the ABS light will come on and the brake light blinks, when this happens, a loud beeping noise sounds at the same time.

any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

All I know about is the ABS and Brake light issue.

You can find a refurbished ABS Modulator on Ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/VW-Pa...QQcmdZViewItem. Check that link.

Same thing was actually happening when I bought my S4, had to wait a couple weeks for the refurbished modulator to come back (that's actually longer than usual I think), and had it put back in with no problems. Check the lifetimewarranty offered in that Ebay auction as well.

You'll drive without ABS for the time being, meaning drive carefully. The removal of the modulator and installation must be simple, because it took the shop where mine was replaced about 10 minutes each time. Don't let an independent shop or stealership BS you here.

Good luck.

Yea, I'm pretty positive on this issue. My symptoms were exactly the same. The ABS and Brake lights would come on (I think the Brake light flashed), and there would be a series of beeps. It was fixed as soon as the new modulator was installed. This is a common problem.

Hmm. Try doing a search on "ModuleMasters" at audiworld.com. I think that company accepts and refurbishes the ABS pieces.

just talked to the shop, they said the car needs an electronic throttle actuator and an abs module. anyone had experience with this?

Like I said, abs modulator. DON'T DON'T DON'T pay stealership prices (i.e. $1000-1200). The dealership I bought it from I had them ship it to someone who refurbished the model (with a lifetime warranty) and install the module for $277. It literally took them 15 minutes to install, as I stood outside the garage. Don't get ripped off.
