New member with my first Audi S4
Hi Guys, Just bought my self a 2001 S4 White with black, I live here in New York city and commute to Connecticut everyday for work averaging 100 miles round trip. I figure I need a winter car AWD for the snow and something that is close in performance with my 2002 M3 for the summer. Don't know why but I got my S4 2001 with 40,000 miles for little under $20k, I thought there might be something wrong with it since the trade in value was around $24k, the dealer said that because it is a automatic and no one drives a automatic with these type of cars and that is why no one want it. The funny thing was that there was a same stick S4 next to mine with 53000 miles on it going for $25k..... Well, I can't really drive a stick here in the city with so much traffic, I figure my left leg will die before the car from all the clutch stepping and that is also why my M3 is a SMG. Don't even get me started with the SMG, it's been in the shop for over a month and they are finaly getting me a new Tranny..
So, Please let me know how I can get this Audi up like my M3 to around 345 HP I hear it's easy to get the power out of this car but I like to know the best way to do it without ripping the car apart and void the warranty. Not looking to do too much, just to open the engine a little.. Thanks for reading this, I am sure in a month or 2 I will know what you guys are talking about with your precious Audi S4..

Start with a chipped ecu, it get to a little over 300hp to start out with. Apr and giac are the most reputable.

Yep, a chip is going to give you the biggest jump in power. However you need to let the car breath first. If you do a chip before you do I/H/E you will not get as much out of it as if you had waited. Your vehicle is forced induction, which means if you allow more air to flow you are going to increase the horsepower greatly. Then chip it with the new mods and you will be eating M3's for lunch.

Thanks guys, I am going to go with the Giac chip just because I have read a little from this form, but I am not sure what I/H/E is. I don't want my car to sound like my M3 which is got every pipe you can think of from Eisenmann but it is really too loud, just want a quiet performance.
One other thing, since it's my first S4, I am not familiar with the noises in the car. Is the engine viberate a bid while the car is on a stop? I am taking it in for a inspection next week for a noise in the back. While the car is in motion, there is a slow rotating noise that is low in pitch, I am thinking that is the AWD noise, the car runs smooth as any car but this noise thing is not normal... any ideas? is it the rear differential? Oh, one more thing, what kind of Brake pads do you guys suggest? I need to get new pads but don't know which is the best....
Thanks again,
Thanks again,
i'm not sure what the "H" stands for, but he was referring to intake and exhaust - opening both ends of the car. there are a few exhaust systems out there that will flow better than stock, without being obnoxious. i've heard them (just don't know which brand it was) besides, the turbos muffle sound too, so you're probably not going to get the S4 to b nearly as obnoxious as the M3 (i've heard them, too
) without deleting the presilencers. i agree that the chip will work best if you you let the car breathe more before installing it.

So, how much would all of these cost? I know the Giac engine chip is $595 at A.W.E and do I need that tiptronic chip for $400? how much is the exhuast? brand? what kind of intake should I get? where and how much?
thanks..
thanks..
congrads on the new S4 souns like u got a good deal! Well first chip ur car, then exhaust, that wont void the warranty, once warranty is up make it a stage 3 and u will be like M3 who?
oops didnt read down, but ive heard an AWE-tuning exhaust on an S4 it sounds sick i highly recommend it to u, AWE has there own website go to google and type in AWE-tuning and itll show u the web site, and GIAC too. Ive heard all good things about the GIAC chip. goodluck

sorry guys, I/H/E or Intake, Header (downpipes), Exhaust. This will open the air flow throughout the entire motor and increase breathability which with forced induction (turbo) is what you want. Then add a chip once those mod's have been done and you will get so much more out of it.
