New S4 is going to be Supercharged
I found a site that has a report about the new S4. It says that its going to have a Supercharged 3.0 FSI V6 putting out 350 hp. It also says that its going to be more fuel efficient and lighter than the previous S4. If you want to read the rest of the article heres the link

I would have rather see turbos too, but I guarantee the superchargers and the engine will be a well-engineered system! I like that they've trimmed the S4's ballooning weight too.

I reaaaaallllly dont wanna see a supercharged S4, that will make me very sad. I have been very hopefull and resistant to thoughts of V8s, superchargers, and twin charging in the new s4 but these supercharger rumors are out of controll. I dont know if its because its real, or if its just because audi has never made a supercharged car and everyone just wants to talk about it. If the new S4 was a twin turbo there would be about a 90% chance id end up in one a couple years down the road, supercharger 0%.
Maybe audis being smart? I mean come on, i love my S4 but shes not without her flaws. How many 2.7t turbo replacements have been paid for by Audi in the past 8 years? Im sure they dont really want to release another easily tunable car like the b5, even if it is pretty popular.
As for a new B8 Rs4, with a ttv6 set up it would be easier for audi tune up to RS status. Current standard is 420 HP made by an amazing V8 engine that revs to 8500 RPM. A naturally aspirated 3.0 V6 from audi is going to be a LONG way from 420 HP, add supercharger and feed it a resonable ammount of boost and i still dont think its there yet. A 4.6L v8 supercharged mustang cobra has 390HP. I like superchargers alot, put one on an R8, B7 RS4, mustang Cobra, or Corvette and its all good, but superchargers dont create nearly as much boost as turbochargers, its a completely different application. I know mercedes loves superchargers, the mini cooper was supercharged, cobalt SS, but to me superchargers just kind of belong with larger displacement engines with more cylinders. Thats just my weird bias or whatever. So does that mean the RS4 is going to have the same old FSI V8 again? Or is the B8 going to go the way of the B6 and not have an RS?
Audi, your starting to **** me off.

Do we have to keep making these threads? Theres about 6 of em, allthough B8 S4 is too few characters to search i think....

Superchargers can be turbochargers. This has been going on a lot. v8, supercharged v6, bitrubo, twincharged (turbo and supercharger). Please Audi do us all a favor and bring back the biturbo! Not a fan of the rear end either. kind of wimpy looking lol.
Until they official announce what it's gonna be, everything is all hype and rumors.

Superchargers are anything that forces air into your motor above ambient pressure, belt driven, gear driven, chain driven, or using an exhaust gas. So ya turbochargers are a type of supercharger, technically a turbo-supercharger. So i guess they cant be wrong because if they say its supercharged and its turbo than theyre still kinda right.
I agree. There is no solid evidence from audi that there will be a supercharger. 2.7T = twin turbo, why should 3.0T mean supercharged?

regardless supercharger or turbo, 350 horsepower is a lot and i dont see why you couldnt very easily bring it up to around 400 which is more than i need. plus shes an uber sexy girl. allthough i do agree with sweeds shes got an asian butt.
A supercharger will make as much boost as a turbo. Thing is an SC can be spun very fast via pulley changes, to make plenty of boost. With turbos you're limited by the amount of air the motor can move, to a degree. SCs make boost immediately, too. The boost hit at launch is better. If you look at the Mustang Outlaw and Pro classes, the SC cars were faster until the turbo guys figured how to get their cars to spool up at the line. The turbo cars went no where until about 330. Top end was ridiculous, though. I don't think an SC S4 would be so bad.
