the first thing is to read the FAQ at the top of the page.. It'll answer some questions and what maintenance it needs. First thing, is yr timing belt, water pump etc been changed? it should be, if not very soon.
next the first thing to give it some go is a chip from either GIAC, APR, VAST. that is 'stage 1'. add in a catback for stage 2 and dp's to be stage 2+. Stage 3 will be the most expensive swap for new turbo's, fueling/tune, tc (since u are a TIP) to handle the power. Tip's are in the mid 12's for a good stage 3. U can't do too much after that for a Tip.
How this helps!
Welcome!

thanks, the FAQ's stuff helps. all of my milage maitenance has been up to date.....ie timing belt, water pump, o2 sensor, etc.. it's all been done at the audi dealership near my house right when i bought it.
putting in a chip is the first thing i "thought" i should do, now you confirmed it. what brand do you have? whats the differance? i was looking into an "APR" chip for $599. is that a good choice? i feel like a d-bag for buying a tip, but i figured id wreck a 6-speed if i went that route. if i put 19" wheels on it am i going to do any drastic damage to my handleing or speed?
thanks!

i like that site. theGIAC chip sounds great, and its cheaper....i could pick up that RS4 grill with it for the same price as the APR chip.

when im slowing down for a stop, butthen the light turns green and i punch it a little, my tranny shifts hard. my guy at audi said its normal, but i've never felt it in any regular auto transmiss that ive driven....any thoughts?

just about got pulled over while driving on the freewaythe other day and when i tried to lose the fuzz my governer kicked in at 140? will that be trumped with a chip????? i got away still, but i dont like close calls

i thought 19s would look good, but im no rapper and too much rim, somtimes really is TOO much rim.

any other suggestions----keep em coming, this site is nutz.

Check out the classifeds over at audizine. (another forum) they have tons of stuff for sale such as chips exhast etc. more than this site. Make sure you know what ECU you have. If you have a 2001 you need a J-Box, for a 2001.5 you need an L-Box ECU. Now your going to ask how do I know if I have a 01 or 01.5? You can seach for that one! there are plenty of posts on it.
You can find a GIAC chip for under 500 easily. I did have a GIAC chip/ flash in my old ECU and i loved it; now I am stage 3 so I have a custom tuned ECU
exhaust is the next best thing- Borla. AWE, Milltek, ASP are some of more popular ones. youtube for exhaust and you'll get tons!
www.s4wheelgallery.com for wheels - 18" is good, but 19" bbs lm's on an S4 is amazing. volk le37's are popular , as are enkei rmp2's. b5 and b7 rs4 reps , OZ ultraleggers, etc!

If it feels like a sudden jerk motion it might just be your engine mounts, not the end of the world but i'd get them checked. Or, depending on what you're used to, it might be nothing at all.

And I believe the GIAC chip (if not the others too) remove the speed limiter and raise the redline a little (to 7,100 RPM).

Be safe out there!

I know the guys at VAST and their customer service/attention to detail with everything they do is excellent. They have tuned my fathers S6 and did an excellent job. Give them a call at (248) 399-2222
