New S4 Owner
Hello Everyone,
This is my first posting in the Audiforums, and hopefully, wont be my last
I have an Audi S4 2001.5, Santorin Blue, white leather interior, w/ 86,900 miles on it.
I have had the car for just over a year now and am about to perform my first oil change on it (had free oil changes for a year). How easy is this (pretty handy w/ a wrench, very little car experience though)? I would love to be able to do all my fluids and filters on my own. Any suggestions or tips for a newbie? I want to keep this beauty running as long as possible.
Thanks.

Oil is easy.
Remove belly pan 10 (I think, not at my car right now) 1/4 turn screws
Filter is angled nicely so it doesn't dump all over the place and is positioned near the drain plug
Drain
Fill
That's it.
I use Mobil 1 0w40, crank case holds about ~7 quarts (don't overfill) with a high volume filter. You can get the high volume filters from Vast, buy in bulk and they are way cheaper than the dealer.
Also, I swear by BG's products. Put in a can of MOA as well.

Cool, just ordered some of the MOA.
Any specific brands for the filter?
I want to get everything together to do this weekend. A wax and an oil change for sure. Any other fluids or filters I should do take care of while I'm at it?

Where'd you buy the MOA and for how much?
Get an OEM filter, I like this oversized one:
http://vastperformance.com/shop/prod...products_id=54
Buy 5 and they only cost like $9 each, shipped.
Bosch's filters aren't bad too, but the oversized OEM filter listed above is better IMO.
As far as other fluids/filters, it just depends on past maintenance, look into it and see what needs to be serviced. The cabin air filter might need to be changed soon, check the engine air filter as well. The sticky has a PDF of services/intervals for the 2.7 It should get you going as well.

I ordered the BG MOA from 5 Star performance, for $6.00 a can, cheapest I saw on google.

I want to change the oil tonight or tomorrow, so might go get a bosch filter from Pep Boys or some other auto parts place. I have that link saved for my next oil change to get them from Vast, that looks like a great deal. Is it imperative to change the Oil Pan Drain Plug at each oil change?
Also reading a lot about about the TBB being faulty, I see Vast has a "Updated "T" revision throttle body boot for all Audi 2.7T V6 Biturbo motors" for $30.00. How hard is this install and should I consider it when placing the order for my oil filters?
Much Appreciated MeatBiscuit, you have no idea. Im sick of taking my car to in to a shop and getting D-cked around. I want to be able to do as much as possible myself.

That is one area that is prone to failure and you get your boost leak. You can get that or get a samco tbb or apr bipipe and never worry about it again, I have the samco think it was 65 and love it. The bipipe is about 350 I think.
Also noticing a lot of posts related to the DV. Im seeing the 710n is one of the better buys.
How is this install, as well as the TBB?
Also saw 1.8Ts need 1 DV, 2.7Ts need 2?
Can someone clarify so I can buy the correct stuff?
Thanks

Yes we need two dv's and the bailey motorsport dv's are even better, the tbb can be purchased from ecstuning and the dv from awetuning. They are both extremely easy to replace and both are under the front engine cover.
Successful first oil change. Thanks guys. A full Saturday indeed: oil change, cabin air filter inspection and clean a thorough wash, some Quixx scratch repair and a thick coat of wax. Looks damn good. I'll try and get some pics up soon. Time to move onto air filter and the TBB and DVs. Placing the order sometime this week.
Just eclisped 87,000 and still running well. I think I need a CV Boot replacement on the pass. side soon, how imperative is this? Guy said there is a minor tear last time I had it looked at (approx 86,000).
