I'm also considering getting a new set of rims and some all season rubber. The car was originally purchased in FL, so it has summer tires on it. That probably won't fly next winter (I'm NW of Philadelphia, or at least not be as good in the grip category as it could be.
This is what my Avant looks like with my winter wheels and Dunlop Snowtires. This was a must living at 9200' elevation in Colorado. I moved down to 17" wheels. $96.00 each at Tirerack.

9200' in Colorado... you're lucky. I had the pleasure of hitting your slopes (Vail and Copper) earlier this month. Man what I'd do to live out there...

Thanks for the info ont he tires.

For the exhaust clips, you can check out youtube, but the best way to decide on what cat-back to get is to hear them in person at an auto show or club meet. I personally recommend Fast Intentions, I have a custom set from them with smaller resonators, X-Pipe, and 4" tips. It's all stainless steel, so besides sounding GREAT, it looks gorgeous and is lighter than the stock set up. Good luck in your search!

thanks.

So I got my ride back today. I checked to see if it had been lowered as asked by sweeds4. I really couldn't tell. It looks all stock, but I really don't what to look for other than new looking stuff underneath. The gap between the wheels and the fender is 1.5" (actual measurement).

Congrats on the new ride. Good to have some more V8ers in the forum! I put Milltek DPs and catback (resonated) on my B7 and LOVE the sound. Here's a clip: http://www.millteksport.com/media.file.cfm?fileid=213

Thanks JackalS4.

yesss4, the Milteks sound great. I love the black rims on your car. That's the look I'm going for. It compliments the window tinting very well.
