Newbie ?? on S4 Purchase
Seriously considering a 2001 S4, but wanted some input from ppl that know these cars. Car is very clean, 115k, all audi service, no mods. New timing belt, brakes, maybe clutch. I am confident that he knows of nothing wrong with it since I am a client.
My only concern is life of the turbos and clutch/tranny. He has used Mobile 1 since day one, and most of the miles are highway. I'm not a turbo authority, but I did have a buick grand national. I hear nothing out of the turbos, but just wanted to ask if it is about time for them to die.
This will not be a daily driver, but just wanted to know it probably had some life left in it.
Sorry if this has been asked a 100 times.
Thanks for any and all input.

FAQ
^Read it and you will be wise
There is no way to tell when the turbos will go. If its chipped it will be sooner than not chipped. You will definately HEAR when they are about to go. I believe the sound has been likened to 10,000 screaming babies. See if the throttle body boot (tbb) has been replaced. If not it will contribute to turbo death if torn. Also replace the diverter valves (dv's) if they aren't already. They can leak, also contributing to turbo death. There are other hoses that you could check too, but without a knowledge of the car you will have a hard time getting to them. Is it a 6mt or tip? Shift linkage and synchros sometimes go bad in the manuals, which require a tranny rebuild which is a few grand. I know I'm forgetting stuff but I'm sure other members will chime in.
Good luck !!
