Noob question. What is a level 10 transmision??
Hi all, I'm fairly new to this forum and own a b6 S4 tiptronic and a b5 A4 tiptronic. I'm thinking about buying "redwagon02's" 01 S4 with a tip/auto tranny. I've heard of tiptronic chips and a "level 10 transmission". Which is better, and do I need one for the b5 S4. My b6 has the "S" position on the shifter and it's pretty aggressive on that setting. Thanks for any input.

Andy

Andy... I don't know a lot about tiptronics, however I think a tip chip improves the shifting of a B5 S4 transmission while the L10 is actually a beefed up transmission that can handle the higher power of a Stage 3 car.
Doing a search on AW while probably give you better information.

heres info on the level ten tranny
tip chip decreases the time it takes for the auto tranny to shift
normally it takes .8 to 1 second to shift, with the chip, its knocked down to .2 second

GIAC Tip chip rocks! SO doesn't modifying it with VAG-COM
L10 is a company that does a rebuild kit, beefed up torque converter, and beffer valve body.

I have a tip-chip as well. The difference was noticeable. I'll have my Level 10 trans and tc installed by the end of the week. From what I hear it will be quite a big difference.
