Its on the drivers side, front of the engine and is threaded into the oil pump housing. Or more simply it is just above and to the front of the oil filter and slightly forward towards the front of the car some more, its black with black wire and decently small.

audis4v6biturbo- your sensor is easier to get to. Its on top of the engine and coming from the airbox to where the y pipe splits its there on the left side before the slpit threaded into the coolant pipe behind the right cylinder head. Should have a blue plug...

Is there any way you could be a little more specific where the oil temp sensor is located? I have searched both on line and on the car itself but just cant seem to find the damn thing. I have the new sensor so I know the size of it. I tried using the bentley cd but it tells me very little on the location but it does say that it has a white wire connected to it, I found that sensor and it does not look like the one I got from the audi dealer, it is larger with a black color near the wire connection. Thanks for the help. Ed

I said, do a look within 8 inches of the oil filter and its the only sensor/wire in that area.

I did look all around the area but the only one I could find was right above sway bar near the oil pump housing and it was much larger than the one the Audi dealer gave to me so I figured it was the wrong one. You had said on the front of the engine and the only one I found was no where near the front. Thank you for trying, guess I need a picture to help find it.

Oil temperature gauge is fixed. Come to find out the temp sensor and oil level sensor are in the same unit. It is the one in the oil pan. Very easy to replace. I just wish that I could figure our why the dealer gave me the other sensor considering my car does not have that sensor. Well just nice to have the gauge back.

Sorry i didn't see this earlier, i could have told you that. The one on the oil cooler is the oil pressure sensor, not temperature.
