Default Owner friendly?

for all you s4 owners...are these cars easy to work on yourself? or are they the kind of car that you have to take to a dealership to get your oil changed and have normal maintenance taken care of? Ill be getting mine the first week in may and i was just wondering if ill be able to work on it easy enough....its gonna be different i suppose going from a chevy truck to a german sports car

yep...they had to mod the v8 to get it into the space by moving the cam drives to the back and switching to a chain from a belt.
I think the engine is only 18 inches deep.

another reason why the B5s are better...the engine in them is made for the car

Better is pretty relative....I've driven my friends B4 S4...lots of fun, but I prefer the B6 package.
Most car companies use an engine in a number of different models...nothing wrong with that.
Anymore than putting a supercharger or turbo to an existing design.
