Default Paddle Shift Steering Wheel Retrofit

I recently moved from my 2001 S4, to a 2002 S6. It's got the four spoke communication steering wheel (On Star, Phone link, radio functions). I would much much rather have the paddle shifter three spoker. Does any know whether it's a simple bolt-on modification, or much more difficult, including re-wiring and software issues? I understand that it was an option for the S6, but not until 2003?

Thanks for any insight and help!

Since it wasn't an option until 2003 I doubt it would be possible, but if it was possible it would probably take some pretty extensive work and customization.

I know you can take the paddle wheel & put it on a S4 with a TT airbag.

Does your wheel have the trans buttons on it now? If it has the buttons, I can it working with the paddles, but you will lose all the other controls.

I've got the four spoker that has the function with the volume control, the seek functions, telephone, etc. Someone over on the Audiworld board said that they did the swap, but it was about $1k to do...damn expensive...argh. I would really prefer the paddles....I think it'd make the car that much more fun to drive. Maybe some miracle will come through yet...low priced used wheel and instructions for a bolt on install.
