That is soooo much cleaner than those versions with the piping stumbling over one another on one side... definitely more stealth with the grill on too!

So this kit is supposed to cool better (soak less) than the AWE or RS4 side-mounts?

Yea, it's suppose to be a very efficient core design. You can see the oil cooler where the old SMIC used to be. The piping is very elegant & as short as possible.

This begs the question: " Why havent AWE, APR thrown some R&D$$$ at having a FMIC for the B5 S4? "

I'm not sure, so far my AWE SMIC's seam to be working fine with my tiny K03's.

I think the big reason no one really has made a good FMIC, is price & packaging. Now, all the SMIC's work on all the 2.7t's, so the A6 & allroad guys use them. Not sure you can with this design.

Hay 2k, speaking of AWE's, how much trouble was the install - have read there instructions a couple of times and it seams strait forward but is there anything that AWE havent mentioned in there instructions that i will need to look out for?

PS. i have heard the RS4 coolas are a huge PITA [:@]compared to the AWE's + the RS4 coolas need the RS$ hoses etc?

Just follow the instructons. It's really easy, the hardest part is trimming the front core support & fender tab.

Yes, by the time you buy the RS4 IC's, RS4 srounds, & the (I think) APR hose set, it's the same $$ as the AWE IC"s. In the end, the AWE ones are supose to work a litlte better. Yes, the RS4 IC's are a PITA, the much more trimming & the belly pan needs to be cut also.

Call me an idiot but I kinda like the piping that is revealed in the other intercoolers.
