Default Price of Miltek system installed

I just got a quote from a shop to install Miltek DPs and cat-back and I'm wondering if this guy is on crack. He wants $4300, which seems really high considering the parts are on sale right now for about $3100. Even if freight is $200, that's $1000 for labor. Comments?

it is a bit of a PITA to get the flanges past the trans, but I was doing it on the floor in my garage. if I had a lift, and transmission hoist, it would have been plenty easier. a grand for labor seems a bit high personally, but I don't know for sure what the going rate is. Call VAST or AWE, and see what their rate is, and then counter offer the mechanic, or go somewhere else.

Thats not too far off. if you ever look under your car you will understand. getting the 6 nuts off the flange closest to the turbo sucks. it really depends on how much he charges an hour. still seems high but not too much.

My shop took 10hrs to put on my DP's but it was their first & LAST time doing it.

Expect to spend about 8hrs on the DP's & 1-2hrs on the exhaust.

Yea, wrenching on an Audi is NOT CHEAP!

they probably spent 6 of them hours cleaning their hands every 5 minutes, and discussing how they would do it without scratching the heat sheild, which has to beimpossible... HAHA... it's WAYWAY to tight back there.

haha, I thought that there was 3 per side, perhaps i'm wrong. it shouldent take 10 hours. but it is also harder on your car 2k as I believe it is a tip, right? its a lot tighter up there.

nope, just looked at the downpipes and they have 4 bolts per side at the flange between the upper cat and the turbo...

Thanks for the input. He said about a day to do it so that lines up. I'm in the Bay Area and everything is expensive, so sounds about right.
