I have been tolde by several audi and non audi shops that you should laet itrun for 45 seconds up to 2 minutes depending on how hard you run the car. They said you can burn your turbos so fast, by not doing this. They have told me what happens is that when you turn your car off the oil draiou ns out of it and the turbo is still spinning and it will burn up cause the oil is not pumping. and also I heard, I am not sure on this but this is what a turbo timer does it keeps the motor running for a minute or so to avoid this problem.

I have heard(I don’t know if true or not) that there is some piping that circulates hot oil while slowly dripping it on the turbos. So after driving, esp. hard, you don’t want to immediately turn the car off causing the oil to clog the turbos. I am not a mechanic what so ever, so I might be completely wrong, if so someone please correct me.

There are various methods for this... One DIY method that I have heard is after parked, open the door and keep the car running for as long as the door alarm is on(which is about 1-2 mins, I think, although I haven't actually counted). Another method is spending the money for the timer. Your choice.

Also as a side note, you should let the car warm up...

what they said... if you stay out of boost..you dont have to go that long..but its very very important to cool down for a good minute to 2 minutes after running hard

Dont drive till it drops below 1k rpm, then drive it normally, not boosting, till the water temp gets up to normal, and the oil needle gets off of the pin. Thats the safest way to keep your turbos strong.
