Talking Rear Caliper - Piston Question

Hi guys,

I managed to tear up the rubber seal on the rear caliper's piston. Should I get a new caliper or can I go without the seal?

These rear pistons are real pain... even with the Schwaben - Brake Caliper Tool. There was nothing inside the rubber seal, so I guess it mainly protects from dust.

I found a repair kit at ECS. It looks like the rubber seal, but I am not sure if this is it. The description is vague. What do you think?

Genuine Volkswagen / Audi - Caliper Repair Kit ES#6545
For larger piston, one per piston

if the seal is torn it needs to be replaced because dirt and crap can get lodged in the piston and sieze it up.

theres the seal and piston i see in the photo. Now if what your saying is broke, it os the boot that goes around the piston. I myself have the same problem but I have not found anything to replace it so its a matter of time till it siezes up

Exactly, I need the boot that goes around the piston. Thanks for your input drev500. I look around for it and will send you an email if I find something.
