I changed the trans and rear diff. oil the other day... the used transmission oil was slightly darker than the new stuff, like it should have been. but the used rear diff. oil was dark, like used motor oil color almost.

thought that was kinda strange, unless the rear diff oil stock is different than the trans. oil? I know the rear diff oil in myTT was no different and was not dark.

anyone else's car like this or what?

 

only thing i can think of is previous owner had a rear diff seal leak and they replaced the fluid with osmehting different after it was fixed. Both of mine were same color but i got that AMSoil Severeg /gear in there now. Much smoother and quieter (tranny wise)

 

yeh, I don't see what would make it turn dark, so it must have been a different brand oil. oh well, they both have Mobil 1 75w-90 in there now.
