replacing a clock light in a B5
Has anyone ever replaced the clock light bulb in a B5 S4? I have the part, I just need to know how to remove the gauge cluster and couldn't find any threads for it. Can anyone help me out? Thanks.
Pull up on the little trim piece behind the steering wheel. Underneath it is two phillips screws. Remove them and the instrument cluster will wiggle out. You'll have to unconnect the plugs on the back of the instrument cluster. They can be a little tricky. You'll see how the bulbs come out after that. I thought S4's used LED's inside the instrument cluster though?

Thanks for the help. I'm talking about the clock light, not the main dot matrix lcd in the center. The clock is LCD and still works, but I can't see it. Apparently there is a red light bulb that back lights it. I'll find out for sure when I pull out the cluster. A guy at Audi sold me the part for it, but the guys in service seem to think that I need to replace the whole cluster. Also, I recently read something that said I should pull straight out on the trim piece behind the steering wheel. Is it up, or out? The last thing I want to do is break the clip on that.
Incase anyone is interested, I just messed around with this and found out that there is infact no bulb for the clock light. The steering wheel trim piece comes straight out, and the screws take a torx bit, T20, I think. Anyway, I'm back to my initial problem. How do you fix the clock light? I can't be the only person on this forum that's ever had theirs go out. There's gotta be a way to fix it without replacing the entire instrument cluster. Anybody have any ideas? The dealership certainly doesn't know since they sold me a bulb for it.
Yeah I didn't think that it was possible to replace the bulb. Well if you have a basic knowledge of electronics you could possibly desolder the old LED out and attempt to replace it?? Yikes good luck though. [&:]
