Default RS4 engine mounts question

apparantly one of my engine mounts is leaking - [:'(]
a mechanic was recomending Rs4 mounts
which I found here: Rs4 mounts
but he wants to charge $600 for the install (his price including parts)
seems like alot - just wondering if anyone had any ideas how much i should be paying for
rs4 engine mounts install. I searched here & AW and lots about which type to get (Avon)
but nothin' on install costs...

the parts are $99 each and an engine mount cant be that hard to change so the price sounds excessive to say the least but I haven't done any rs4s so I could be wrong

sorry if I made that unlcear -
it is a b5 S4 - just using the RS4 mounts...
the link I have shows their only $99.00 each -
I just cant blv its $400.00 in labor !
[&o]

I know this is a bad question - but how critical is this?(leaking mount) I dont feel any vibrations or
engine movment - I wonder if I can put this on the back burner for now...

you're gonna want to change those mounts. i've got a b5 s4 as well with rs4 engine mounts. it really isn't that hard to put on. if i were charging someone to change the mounts i would charge maybe a couple hundred at most. the only reason i can think of the high price of labor is to reach the engine mounts. you must remove the subframe and some other things, but other then that, they are right there. that may be the reason for this. anyway, good luck, let us know what goes on.

Do the RS4 engine mounts make much of a diff in the S4?

It would be great if u could say look mate i will wait for it while u work on the car and see how long it really takes

Cheers

If I remember correctly 2001.5 and newer B5 S4's came stock with the RS4 engine mounts. Regardless... I remember seeing them for less tan $200 on Vast's website. There have been several write ups on AW on how to install them yourself...seems like a good sized job, but could be worth the $400 savings to do yourself.

agreed. save yourself the cost of labor and DIY. you'll be learning a lot. and i'm more than sure that you'll appreciate your car and yourself a whole lot more
