S4 4.2 v S4 2.7 turbo
Folks,
I need some clarity, I am buying a S4 this year 4.2 litre 344 bhp, my friend has the old S4 2.7 litre twin turbo's with "only" 265 bhp, the issue is the 2 cars are reletively the same weight so why with nearly 80bhp more is the 0.60 times roughly the same at about 5.5?
I would really like to know the answer.
Also, unrestricted what is the approximate top end of a new S4 I would guess at 170 to 172?
Again I would appreciate your reply

Just to make sure.....these numbers are stocks?

The standard line is:
If you want to mod the hell out of it....get b5
If you like as is and want a bit more refienment....get the b6/b7

Exactly what abacab said. I would say the b6/b7 is roughly running a 5.1-5.3. I dont think its braeking 5 secs. That b5 number is proabaly about right, but a bit conservative as well. The b6/7 is goign to give you more "niceaties" and more options as well as good stock performace and more reliability. The b6/7 is also a bit beefier looking and more spacious, as well as i think its a bit heavier. The b5 is more of a tuner car. If youre going to modify your car, the b5 is the way to go. With the twin turbos its very easy to free up a lot of power. You get a stage 3 kit and there aint much you cant keep up with or beat. as well as its a tighter cabin esp in the back. Both nice cars though and youll love waht you get.

Agreed with the above. If you plan on investing in your car: B5. If you want a sporty cruiser with plenty of power: B6/7. If you get the V8, be sure to invest in some new pipes to let everyone know you have a V8. Oh yeah, and it sounds freaking awesome.
BTW, what is the gas milage difference?? I would think the B6/7 is a little more of a gas guzzler than the B5 by a significant amount.

The v8 gets like 15 mpg at most..maybe slightly higher on highway. I beg to differ a modded b5 is a gas guzzler. Im stage 3 and i get like 20-25 normal and 25-30 on highway.......unless im really getting on it...than it can suck gas like a $2 hoor
