on average the range of a KO3 turbo is 100k miles. now that can range + or - 30k depending on how well the previous owner took care of the car. oil changes, proper warm up and cool down, over boosting, ect. KO4's are the populer upgrade though a little spendier, a little more reliable/powerful. the 2.8's are only more reliable because they dont have turbos

I currently have a 00 Ws6 (Auto to M6 swap) that I've done all my own work
on except the computer part/tuning of it. I've been doing some research on 04 - 05 S4 4.2s manuels and I cant decide if I am making the right choice or not I know repairs cost more but I still dont know much about euro made vehicles. Meaning am I downgrading or upgrading from ameican made 00 ws6 to the Euro made S4? I apologize if I insult anyone with that question (power, ride, comfort, max power stock internals of an S4 can handle). My ws6 rides, handles and has great power but I am ready for a new adventure.

just a pic of it.

anyone have a link I can check out on 04-05 s4 4.2s sorry I dont know all the terminology for these cars yet?

idk much about these cars either but it depends wat your looking for. my dad has a 67 rs/ss camaro and its prob worth between $20,000-30,000. the thing kicks *** and it only has about 400 hp. it really depends on what u want and where u live. i live in chicago so my 96 camaro sucks in snow. idk if ur ws6 is a daily driver or not? also, the audi is going to cost more in parts but if u can do the work on ur own u can save alot of $ cause audis rnt much different from working on other cars and idt the 4.2l had a turbo so u dont hav to worry about that because they get expensive fast. The audi will also weigh more ( get a quattro btw) so its gonnna take more to get it to be able to compete with where ur ws6 is now. But in the audi the ride quality is phenominal and it willl handle great and you get the beauty of german engineering. U will still turn heads with the s4, but just from different crowds. If u like raw horsepower, burnouts, and acceleration, the sound of the v8 (which the audi will hav but personally i like a american made v8 rumble) burnouts, and more burnouts then stick with the ws6. You will prob downgrade on the power from what ur used to (idk wat u ave done to ur ws6) but personally i like the audi more because of the style and practicality of teh quattro and 4 door. in the end it depends on what u like more

i can tell you right now from this website being of mainly audi lovers we're all gonna suggest the S4. he said it right, you're still going to turn heads but from a different crowd. its a whole different world though, you're comparing apples and oranges so it comes down to what you want, not whats better

With having driven both cars, I'd like to compare them lol

00 ws6 has:
what like 340 hp stock?, rwd, very light, great suspension, high modability, LS1 aka that v8 sound, everyone who see's it knows what its capable of and is impressed.

s4 has:
AWD, 250 hp stock, biturbo v6 gives you that German engine sound, maybe a little less reliable, but overrall made with better quality, high modability, maybe not as much as the ws6, and 15% of ppl that see it will know what its capable of.

It depends what you looking for, awd gives you traction, you can mod an s4 to be as fast as a ws6, but the ws6 gives you that feeling of your being scared to go fast in it, which i love lol. Its all about preferences and what you want to get out of the car.

The WS6 owner is considering a B6 S4 w/ the V8. All S4's are quattro to correct Fast Euro. The V8 S4 is a nice ride, but it doesn't offer much in upgrades. It's quick stock but you can't do a whole lot to it unless you want to custom fab a turbo kit or buy the outrageous priced MTM superchager kit.

If I had a V8 S4, I'd upgrade the exhaust, lower it, and be done. Nice car, lowered stance, good sound, 13 second 1/4 mile, drive it all year....

I personally chose a B5 over a B6 since I knew the potential of the 2.7t as being one of Audi's best engines aside from the 2.2L 20v turbo.
