Default S4 ABS Warning light

Hi I'm a new member from the UK. Has anyone had a problem with an intermitant ABS warning showing on the dash. When it first occured the garage said it was a connector.... now they say they can't talk to the ABS module... needs to be replaced at £800+..!!..I'm wondering if it is because a connector has come loose (light is on all the time now)..Garage also want £75/hour to look at it... Any Ideas

There might be a ABS sensor ring broken in the drive shaft end (I dont know that part name in english). I had it broken, and it sometimes turns with the wheel, and sometimes not. I opened the packet and removed the ring and welded it together. Then I put it back, and now it works. It had also weared the ABS-sensor because the diameter was bigger because of the break. It it quite easy to check if it is broken. Just remove the wheel and the sensor, then try to turn the ABS-ring. If it turns without the axel turning, it is loose.

Often it's as simple as the pads beginning to wear out. The sensor may be getting exposed.

okkim's advice would be the next place to look.

Bottom line: Often it's a lot simpler than what the Audi Techs suggest.
