S4 aluminum engine block ?
The 2000-2002 - 2.7 block is cast iron and as we all know cast iron is heavy..!
I've looked around and I'm not seeing it, does anyone manufacture an aluminum block with steel cylinder sleeves?
Thanks,
Shawn

I have never heard of anyone making an aluminum version of this block. Have you ever looked at it bare? There is nothing to it. I think if it were aluminum with cast sleeves you wouldn't lose anymore then maybe 20 pounds. A chevy 350 cast iron block weighs 100 pounds more then the aluminum version but that is more than 2 times bigger and has more material for where the cam is.

I wasfiguring abouta weight reduction of 50 to 75 pounds, andwhenIrebuild the motor then I could justify purchasing an aluminum block if one was available. Already looking at lexan windows, just looking for ways to shave weight..!

The 2.8 engine block is Alm Alloy.
So far no one that I know of has built up a 2.8tt with it.
My guess it would work fine on K03's, but might not hold the high RPM boost of K04's, you might get some crank walking.

interesting thought"2k S4" has, fits in the logic of what all the honda guys do, pull out a 1.6 and replace with 2.2... question would be, do the trannies line up... I'm not going to worry about that for the moment, I figure the 500 on93 octaneshould be slick enough at first, then will eventually get boring as I get used to it...
