I got the problem again and i just did dv last week and it did not fix it like i thought it did. I was wondering if it could be the clutch and have any of you replaced it. mine is a 02 with a little over 70k and apr tuned

yep renn-art, changed the dv's for forge items - no difference. yesterday i took off the ttb to see if that was split again (only 2000 miles old) but no - it was fine. but replacing the f-hose has definitely helped. driving with the windows down there's a definite woosh of air accompanying the hesitation and i've narrowed it down to 3400rpm. everytime it's more than about 3/4 throttle. before i replaced the f-hose it was also sluggish above 4.5K, i'll see if it's made any difference there at the weekend. the missus is driving the S4 at the moment (fewer miles) while i drive the rx8.

slow - thanks for the reply, i'm pinning all my hopes now on it being an intercooler hose leak that i could get to after taking the bumper off.

Santorin2k2 - cant see how my problem could me the clutch. i've had a few clutches go on me in other cars, they tend to start slipping, so the revs would go through the roof, but the car wouldnt shift. can you reproduce your problem at will or is it just occasional?

yep - had a pressure test done by guildford audi. but first they said no - it's not a leak, someone's had your car chipped - no sh*t sherlock! well there are no codes showing they say. yes i know i say. have you done the pressure test? no they say. well could you i say, that's what i brought it to you guys for. wont do any good they say, there's no leak cos there's no codes. can you please pressure test - just for me? an hour later they ring to say no leak - which is obviously rubbish since 200 miles later i took the f-hose off to find a 1/2 inch rip. but just today i received my own awe pressure tester - so i'll give it a go myself.
