S4 decent in snow?
I am considering purchasing a 2005 S4. I'm slightly torn between that or an 05 A4. I realize the S4 is substantially more powerful. Is there any reason that a responsibly driven S4 wouldn't be just as good in snowy conditions as an A4?
Ahhhhh I love quattro. I used to HATE michigan winters but I love them now! My friends call it the tank cause it makes it through everything I take it through. As long as you don't THINK that the extra power will screw you up then you should be fine. I never get wheel spin unless I gun it.
we just got ice and snow here in central kentucky and the thing cannot be stopped... er.. well that was until i didnt realize that the snow plow had pushed about 8 inches of packed snow/ice in the front of a restaurants drive way... but itll go anywhere the clearance will allow..but dont think just because you can go anywhere you can stop anytime.. abs is great but greater momentum on ice stops the same with any equipped abs vehicle.. you just have to down shift properly to get better stopping ability...im loving pulling away from a stop light with ample acceleration and no wheel slippage or going up a step grade (my driveway) with no problems...
Snow tires or bust. The b6 is still like $20k + right? Dont take the chance, get some snow tires for the stock wheels, and buy a set of BBS's or something for summer with some performance tires. You gotta dress for the conditions, wear boots in the snow, and jordans on the court
This year i got some Yokohama snows, and has Falken Azenis summer tires. My tires only last like 6 months hehe

I have an 04 S4 and nothing can touch it in the snow, save for some car thats been modified or something like that. I'm really not into the modified car BS so the V8 with lots of power and torque is so appealing.
Only thing that would touch my S4 in the snow is a snowmobile and even then I would give it a race for the fun of it. I also have kick *** winters on all 4 corners. It's almost as fast in the snow as it is in the dry.

I could be wrong be I believe the 2005 S4 is going to be slightly lower to the ground then a A4... again I could be wrong. If it is lower then the S4 will have a little more trouble getting through really deep snow... but really any car would have have trouble too. If you are worried about about snowy condition I would consider a Audi All-road. That what I would like to get as my second car when needed in extreme conditions.
