ok so i know that stage three is generally what everybody does, however i was reading awe's ko4 upgrade page and they mentioned the giac boost controller which got me thinking. First of all what do the numbers stand for on the giac bc. More importantly how strong are these cars. I have an 01 s4, and im wondering how much each stock part can handle. How much boost can the stock fuel system handle. How much hp can the stock engine handle like rods bock and such, also the drivetrain. Basically how much hp can i achieve on the stock car before something goes and which part will go and when. I hope that made sense, thanks all.

 

my brain hurts and I'm sick. stage 2+ guys can manage around 250 whp that's about 350 chp. after upgrading to bigger turbo's, ie ko4's, u'll get alittttle increase but not much because everything like the injectors + maf are being just about topped out. now when with a custom , not OTS like AWE or VAST, u can get 400 whp. hope this helps a little.

 

The engine and its internals can handle ALOT, the stock fuel system can only handle about our cars chipped, after that you run into problems with it being to lean or rich before you have to do fueling.

 

I believe the engine can handle around 800 HP on the stock internals without any modification, but the CV axles and such have had problems at the 900 HP range.
I have seen S4's with over 1,000 HP, but they were heavilly modified with internal upgrades.

 

From what I have seen the stock injectors are good up to about 300whp thus the stage 3- tune (ko4's needed) ko3's are good upto about 280whp + or - depending on the dyno

a few weeks ago I went for a ride in the VAST GT600 car. 600whp car they have been driving and raceing it for over a year now and that car is stock block stock 1/2 shafts etc etc. they also have a GT600 car in cally that is 100% stock other than the GT kit.

From what I have seen you can make good Hp with RS6 style turbos 500whp. it seems after that hp level you need to completely change the header design to keep from blowing motors. There are other GT kits out there but they all use the stock style header design. The small header style seems to become restrictive around 550whp witch is where all the other gt style turbo kits seem to have motor issues

 

ok well for now i prolly will just go with the ko4 kit, but im wondering how much the boost coould safely be cranked up past the giac tune for the kit. My goal is to put down 450 wheel on pump gas. I prolly cant do that with ko4s but they are much cheaper and easier. So im wondering how much i can crank it up to try to get close to that, just wanna make sure i dont break anything. As for the 800 on the stock engine that is very good to hear, on my last car it was i had to get internals and a built tranny before i could really do anything which is so frustrating. Anyway thanks and also how could i go about the rs6 turbos, can i just use the ko4 giac tune and fueling kit. Or do i need even bigger fuel system.

 

The rs6 speak is still trying to be developed in a way and made a kit. And you can get 450 whp on ko4's, you just need the right fueling kit along with a new fuel pump, cause the kits don't really come with those, and everything else that you can buy on awe and all those websites, IC's blah blah blah you know what I mean.

 

only way to get those big #'s on k04's is to go big injectors- 60lb and a custom tune. i think 450 whp on K04's is pushing it imo.
some are coming out with rs6 kits- jhm?? i'll haveto find that post abuot them tho. those will give you some real good whp number for the stock block. i think 400 whp is like 510-520 chp!
Those are good for low 4 sec 0-60. i've heard of 3.9 sec before! That's Nice!

 

currently my car has 2 blownstock turbos, and me and my mechanic are looking into doing the k04-rs6 turbos with theAWE kit, with a custom tuning. but we are lookinginto the facts first... all the stock parts that would need to be replaced or upgraded. not sure what it will put out.
