2000 S4 automatic

I bought a new s4 radiator on ebay. I bought the upper and lower radiator hoses from a wholesale parts warehouse. The shop installing my new radiator has told me that the new lower hose is not properly fitting and is leaking. It appears the radiator o ring is not snug on the lower pipe connection. I checked with the warehouse to see if they had a different part number for a a4 or vw passat. The hose they sold me is suppose to fit them all.
Anybody had an experience like this working on it yourself or having a shop do it?
