I am in the market for either an S4 or an A6, I have about $15k to spend. What is considered to be the best S4 in that price range. From what I read, it seems as thought the 2001 or newer model is the most desirable. Although I don't think I can find an 01 or newer in that price range. I do not plan on doing any mods to the car other than wheels and tires at some point, and maybe lower the car depending on the wheel size. So please give your opinions on the S4. Also would you prefer an S4 or an A6. The size of the car is not a factor. Thanks.

 

I have both the S4 2.7T and the A6 2.7T (both 6-sp man.)

A6- More of a luxury car, with a sporty edge. more comfy over the bumps. good for long trips.
S4- when I first got in my S4 it felt like a race car. much stiffer and more responsive then the A6. but for almost any road trip I would take the A6 (4+ hour trip) but the S4 gets lots of attention, especally with the Nogaro blue/Alcantara suede/aluminum brushed mirrors.

If you go with an A6, a little lip spoiler really makes the car look nice.
