i want to buy an s4 and do some stuff to the engine to make it real fast. someone at a shop near me told me that the 2002 model can be hooked up real easy because of the turbo and if i buy a giac chip for it, it will add like 75 horse power. he also said someone he knows made an 02 so it had 400 horse power. and he said that you can barely do anything to a 2006 unless you spent 20,000 dollars. that would probably workout better for me anyways because i love the look of the 02 models but i wanted to get your oppinion on this?

 

in ur situation id go for the 02 V6 bi-turbo

do you guys know if they are good and if so it says i can get 500 horsepower from it. knowing this do you guys think i should still get an 02.

 

honestly it all depends on what you wanna do wit the car?? do you want to track it or do you want to drive it as a daily driver?

02's are more mod friendly as to an 06 they make a supercharger kit for $20k..
an 02 you dont need nearly that amount to do even the gt28 kit which is $12k plus about 1500-2000 for installation and makes about 500-600 to the wheels all depending on the setup...or the k04 kit for the 02 is about 6-7000k..IMO go with the 02 s4 it is lighter then the 06 as well...but in the end it is all up to you and what you wanna do with the car...

but goodluck either way you go cause they are both beautiful cars...

 

For the money invested the B5 (02) will always be faster. I agree it looks better. But the B6 does have a nicer interior & a is a little bit better in the suspension area.

 

yes im pretty sure it is 04-05 is B6 and 06-07 is B7

 

guys this is great info. im going to go for the 02. am i going to have to change the stock suspension and shocks after i give it alot more horsepower? and if so what kind of suspention and shocks do you all recommend? this car is going to be for everyday driving on the street.

yeah you should def upgrade suspension..not that you have to cause of the power just cause it will handle alot better if you do..it all depends on where you live as to what to get for suspension..if you live near a winter season that gets really cold do not go with coilovers cause you will not be able to adjust them after one year or less...just go with some nice springs and shocks..go with some h&r springs with bilstein shocks and you will not have any complaints it will make your ride handle and drive alot smoother ...goodluck with everything your doing and hope you got a deep pocket cause you will need it ..just expect to have atleast 1000 in your bank for any given moment...
