Saturday Ice storm

Well in the Chicago area on saturday there was a snow/rain/sleet storm that resulted in a lot of ice on the road. I was turning into the parking garage for my apartment and i slipped and fish tailed. My rear left winter tire slipped and hit the curb. It had some light rash but overall nothing i was too worried about. When i went to drive my car today, after a few minutes of driving, the ABS and traction control warning lights both came on and stayed on. They go off when i turn the car off but return minutes after driving... it seems to me that maybe i damaged my wheel speed sensor? just wondering if anyone else had any input

heh, sounds like you're having too much fun if those are staying on, sorry bout the nib in the wheel, i don't think a small hit on the curb would affect it much, was it pretty hard?

OK update/more serious problem? It seems that the warning lights have figured themselves out and re no longer a problem BUT the steering wheel is rotated about 35 degrees to the left when traveling straight.... and my turns feel really loose and sloppy now... some please help me figure out what i did!!

I bet you damaged the wheel bearing, or bent something in that area, & it's giving different speed then the rest of the car.

so what do you reckon i do? put on the full size spare for that tire and see what happens?

Ok, I'm pretty sure that a wheel bearing is the same thing as a steering knuckle, and thats probably what you messed up, if so, it would feel very sloppy when you turn, and kinda squirly when you just go straight. There is also a good chance that you messed up a tie rod end as well. Just changing out the wheel won't do anything, as the steering knuckle is an integral part of the suspension itself. They are about 300 dollars, and if the tie rod is messed up that is an additional 80 or so, plus the cost of an alignment. Hope this helps
