Meh, I would think different dealers do it differently. I would just clarify with the dealer what happens. Unless the driver is someone they really trust, I'm not sure he would be holding the check.

And unless the dealer is someone you really trust, I wouldn't give them your car for nothing. Maybe a post-dated check? But, I would request cash or a money order or something along those lines. I've sold cars on Ebay, and everytime I get paid before they take the car. Why should it be different for a dealer?

if its from canada watch out, alot of cashier checks from canada have been coming back fraud. i work at a bank so i see them a lot. especially when they say, i wrote it for too much, so write me a check for the difference. then you are out cash and a car. that would blow. i would ask for a cashier check and make sure its good before you give car up. if it comes in a check with the trucker, call the bank on the check to make sure funds are available before you let car go.

Very good advice...I'm in west palm, FL and the dealer is about 4 hours away in jacksonville: www.olympiamotorcars.com
I'll definitely be taking all this advice when dealing with the payments...Now how do I deal with the depression of the S4 being gone.
