Default soon to be owner, B5 or B6?

I'm going to be buying an s4 in early december and right now I'm torn between getting the B5 or B6. Basically I'm stupid and superficial and think the B6 looks a lot cooler than the B5, less worries about turbo problems, and handles better than the B5. Obviously the advantage of the B5 is a lot more upgrades and will be faster overall.

With realistic upgrades(not a 18-20k turbocharger :P) what can the 330 HP be pumped up to on the 2004 B6?

Sorry if this has been posted before - search wasn't working well. I just keep going back and forth here and would like as much information as possible before I buy one.

Thanks guys

Sounds like you've covered the bases. B6 looks nicer and has an updated interior. B5 is way more mod-able and with comparable money you can make it a lot faster. I have a B7 and put pipes, intake and chip on it. Haven't dyno'd it but from what I hear the gains are 30-50hp tops. By the way, it's the MTM supercharger that costs $20K. AWE is releasing one soon that will cost $10K and is supposed to add about 100hp (I may have that wrong but it's what I remember). I'd say one of the best parts of the V8 is the sound, especially with DPs and a catback. The mileage is terrible (~16 mpg). While you can't mod it much for cheap, it's plenty fast.

If you wouldnt go stage 3 in the B5, then get the B6. its nicer in alot of ways, just hets worse mileage

Why is the S6 V10 tt excluded vs. B6 from this important choice?

rs6 is ttv10, s6 is v10 NA

A chip is about $700
Hyperflow Intake $400
Milltek fullback exhaust $3500

Even with those mods your probably less than 300 HP at the wheels, similar to stage 2+ B5

Past that theres the Vf/AWE supercharger, which when combined with a full exhaust should be pretty nice. Its just coming out now, $11,000 installed IIRC. Search for it.

$4600 into a B5 would get you Chip, Turbo Back exhaust, Boost Gauge, and some Vogtland coilovers and it would definitly be faster and handle better than a b6. $10,000 like the supercharger would get you to stage 3 and then some which is WAAAY faster than a B6/B7

+1

Like yesss4 said, AWE is releasing a $10k SC soon that puts it close to 500hp at the crank I think. Basically it'll walk on a stock RS4.

Everything about a b6 is newer, and no offense guys but the b5 does just look kinda old because it is! The recaro seats are amazing btw!
