speakers
Yeah i just called the dealer last friday and they do have the replacement speakers for the B5, however they are priced at about $110 a peice and im assuming its your rear deck speakers becuase i have the same problem both are blown.
Yes you are correct in that a higher ohm rating being a eaiser load. Most Bose systems were set up with a specific speaker amp combo. You can run a higher ohm speaker off the Bose amp but it would be less efficent and produce less power going to the speaker then it was intended to. Just in my experience in car audio most Bose speakers were not a 4 ohm speaker, most were 2 or 1 ohm.
There is a set of Pioneer 2 way component speakers they keep talking about on DIYmobileaudio that are supposed to be awesome and I think you can get them on ebay for around 200 bucks. Kill any of those bose speakers easily.
Oh and as far as power goes, I've ran my floor standing speakers (they are rather efficient though) on 10 watt amps and gotten easily to 90+dB's and thats a large room in a car you should have no problem pushing them to that level with a small amount of wattage if it even does drop that far going up to a 4ohm speaker.
