Default Stage 1... Few Concerns...

Well, I still haven't posted my new S4's (2002) pics yet, between finals eating my time and Spring constantly shitting pollen and flower pedals all over my black car, I just haven't gotten to it... UGH! However I still lust for input. I'm going to go stage 1 and I have decided on a Giac chip.

Obviously it is important for me to know what type of ECU I own, so would anyone be so kind as to inform me? (2002 s4 b5) Perhaps even forward me a link to where I can buy one?

Is my gas mileage going to be the same if I'm not nailing it? Just regular driving...

I will keep my eyes pealed. Not going to buy the chip for at least another month or so.

2002 6MT uses the T-Box - you might be able to use the M-box (2001.5) also, but not sure 100%
2002 Tip uses the AA-Box ( alsolike abovewith the L-Box 2001.5)

a lot of chipped/flashedecu's on there quite frequently
Gasshould be the same if driving normal, and less when spirited.

i can never remember which MY uses which box..so which uses the A box.. 00-01?

anyways... it depends on what you wnat for a chip...heres the breakdown by "stereotype"

GIAC- Fastest, but also the harshest and most raw
MTM- smoothest, but not as much power, but i do believe has most low end torque..
APR..ASP- Somewhere inbetween the two... ASP being closer to MTM, APR being closer to GIAC..

I have an MTM and LOVE it..i dont necessarily buy much into the power bit...i think theyre all VERY close...but theres no doubt the mtm is smoother, just listening to other cars idle i can see a difference and the power bands are a bit different...

Overall, youre going to love whtaever chip you have... but i recommend finding a shop thats close to you, and go with whatever product they endorse..that way you have someone that cna perform service on the car and you can go to for problems.

Sooks, you made a great point, I'll probably do that. (find a local shop and use their flagship)
