Default Starting issues with my 2000 S4

Ok so I drove my car with no issues, I park it in my driveway, I go out to it to put it in the garage and it doesn't start. I pushed the clutch all the way in(pretty much standing on it), it's in neutral, nothing. I have power and everything works, just not starting. So finally, I turn the key all the way forward with the clutch in to start it, nothing, but this time I held the key forward and pump the clutch, nothing, I push the clutch as hard as I can and its pinned as hard as it'll go and finally it starts. So now it only starts if I hold the key forward and literally kick the clutch pedal down as hard as I can. Obviously this could be damaging so PLEASE if anyone can help or has any idea of what the hell is going on I'd greatly appreciate it!

At the first I don't understand what the clutch has doing with the engine starting? Or is there some kind of safety feature that you need to push clutch in order to start? I have never heard about this.
Anyway, I would start by checking key cylinder and temperature sensor. Any fail codes available?

Just fixed last night. It was the clutch safety switch(makes sure the clutch is pushed all the way in before starting to prevent stalling on start up). Basically the part of the pedal that was supposed to push the switch in was broken off. All I did was super glue(cheap, ghetto fixed) a small piece of plastic to cover the area where that part of the pedal would have been. And BAM starts right up!
