ok.. gotta go with a new clutch.. have an apr tune and when you hammer in third gear at 2000 it slips like a bitch... so i need a new clutch.. trying to weigh the pros and cons of a lightweight flywheel with a RS4 clutch or a stock flywheel.. or just going straight up stage 3 flywheel/clutch.. which i can get with a flywheel for about 700.. or get just the RS4 clutch without a flywheel for about 500... which is the better choice??

 

RS4 w/ LWFW if you have no plans for stage 3.

What "stage 3" clutch are you looking at? For $700 w/ a LWFW its probably not very good IMO...

 

well you know how it goes.. happy with staying around stage two but you know once you get a taste of a little power your always hungry for more.. i guess if i go with the rs4 clutch would be good for now then if i go stage three i have to take the engine out anyhow to do the turbo swap, right?? so i could upgrade the clutch to a stage three then .. and the clutch i saw with a light weight flywheel is an exedy and the flywheel is a fidanza..

if the quality and/or characteristics of this clutch/flywheel is not good lemme know..and actually the clutch is not listed as stage three but i questioned the seller and response was itll hold up to 450 and 500.. which could be completely not true.. the flywheel he said was 11 lbs.. which i thought was VERY light... heres another one i looked at..

The fidanza flywheel is a popular product but i havent heard anything about the clutch.

Most people seem to get RS4, VAST, Southbend, or Clutchmasters. Id get the stock flywheel resurfaced if it meant getting a vast clutch over the ebay one. Its just my prefrence maybe those clutches are great but id rather not take a gamble because of the labor, time, and money involved.

And yeah its sometimes easier to remove the engine and transmission together for a turbo swap. I plan on doing that and rebuilding the transmission too at the same time

 

thats where im trying to figure out what to do.. i work at a shop and i have a bay with which i can do the clutch myself... i might just go with a LWFW that ive found and an RS4 clutch.. itll total be about 850 but better safe than sorry yeah i dont wanna have to do it twice.. thanks for your suggestions..

But the thing you want to look at is if you like to go to the track a lot then you want the stock flywheel because it gives you a hard launch off the line compared to the LWFW. Its just user preference.

 

Well just make sure to not go with too light of a flywheel if you plan on going drag racing. I actual use a 15 lbs flywheel in my A4 and am able to pull 1.5 60 ft times and dont have an issue with the rpms dropping to quickly between shifts while pulling 10 second 1/4 mile runs.

 

Dude please go with the southbemd, there is nothing wrong with too much clutch grip, I am regretting that at this point, despite my vast knowledge of what I thought was the best.

 

RS4 and a 15lb lwfw is what I just did with the stasis trans and I drop rpms quick but i didnt have anyproblems with it once i drove it for a week....just dont let off the gas a much and you will be just fine
