Got an Audi s4 2001...trying to upgrade few things on it what should I go with as far as the exhaust, downpipes, and chip goes? I was told UUC has a very good exhaust and APR downpipes and GIAC chip. If you somthing that would be better then let me know I would appreciate it. How much boost can that engine handle if I was to also get a boost controler?

Good choices. The following are considered the best or most popular.

Chips: APR, GIAC
Cat-back Exhaust: APR, AWE, Borla, Milltek, UUC
Downpipes: APR, AWE, Tantrumwerks(LaBree)

Boost controller? Not sure what you mean by this??

Be sure to upgrade your DV's and your TBB.
DV's: 710N (OE), Bailey, Forge
TBB: Samco, or the complete APR BiPipe Kit

Hope this helps

I have heard similar part combos from one of the mechanics believe it or not.

I'm waiting till the spring to do me but i'm going strait to AWE and have them install it since i can't and don't know anyone who can.

I had an A4 previously which i purchased because it was a special order that i got used for a great deal but getting passed by punks in hopped up hondas was getting old. Never the less i stepped it up. They are not too happy about it.

Even if a car keeps up with me these days, handling is a whole differnt problem for them......and if that's a problem than maybe my stereo or A/C can kick their car's stereo or A/C's ***.

BTW: A (manual type of) boost controller is not a great idea, because there are so many areas that need to be controlled. The ecu must communicate properly with items like the MAF. A boost controller may cause the ecu to go into limp mode, too. Software (which can be interpreted as a more sophisticated method of "boost control") is the only way to go - chip it.

Here's a great quote from brrman a few weeks ago.

ORIGINAL: brrman

cuz Audi's rely on their ECU software to control the boost. It reacts based on what boost the ECU is creating based on its fuel mapping.

When you go and manually change it, the ECU cannot compensate. The fuel mapping is static and does not change based on anything you do. So you will run lean. You are adding boost, but not more fuel to the mixture. Some guys have totally melted their spark plug tips by doing that. Some have had them burn off and the leftover of the tip fell into the engine screwed it up royally...That said, some guys have had some luck with manual boost control because they don;t push their limits. But they still run lean (or rich if they turn the boost down too low) and it reduces engine life overall.

Audi's are not like many japanese cars where manual boosting is not harmful
